James, Sirius, Remus and Peter - which House
Here's some speculations about in which house James, Sirius, Remus and
Peter were in. It has been widely speculated before on various sites an
forums, but I think it's still worth of placing/discussing again
|| Many people ask the question
which House James, Sirius, Remus and Peter were
in. I think that I found the prove that at least James was in Gryffindor!
the book it says: The truth was that Ron had just reminded Harry forcibly
another Gryffindor Quidditch player who had once sat rumpling his
this very tree. Of course Harry thought about his father and as he
Sirius were best friends and Sirius was a disgrace for his family
everyone was in Slytherin) it seems to be clear that Sirius was too
i have read on various harryp' sites that James and co. should
be in slytherine. i definantely think they should be in Gryfindor.
Why? Well for starters, there are 5 boys per year per house and there
are 4 marauders. Now supposing they were in Slytherine, that would
suggest that they also shared a dormitory with Snape! We all hate
him but even i would feel sorry for Snape! His schoollife would be
complete and utter hell if he had to put up with James and that every
night for 7yrs.
They all (except Peter) are/were in the Ootp so that is a minor indication
that they were in Gryfindor (Ddore's house).
"I'm hoping i'll be in Gryfindor, it sounds by far the best,
i hear Dumbledore himself was one..."-hermione, book1
Ps. Good point Emily Miller!. (HSMiles)
It seems likely to me that, if no one else, Sirius was a Slytherin.
In Book I, Hagrid says something to the tune of, "Every wizard
that's gone bad was in Slytherin" (Sorry, don't have my book
in front of me. If anyone has the exact quote, I'd be much obliged.).
This of course is ten years after Sirius presumably betrayed James
and Lily, and was convicted. They would have known by then that he
had "gone bad". In my head, Hagrid's statement implies that
Sirius was a Slytherin. (Rosie Frater)
I don't think that Sirius and James were in Slytherin, I'm
sure that James was in Gryffindor: he was Gryffindor seeker, as for
Sirius, I'm pretty sure he was not in Slytherin, he hated his family,
he ran away, even if the sorting had considered to put him in Slytherin,
he would have asked, (like Harry) not to be put in Slytherin, as JKR
constantly told us that Sirius was very intelligent, I suppose that
he even was in Ravenclaw, Gryffindor and Ravenclaw are normally going
on very well, as Harry shows us, Cho, Luna. (Astride
J.K. said they were in Griffindor in two interviews...There
is the proof. (Anja)
"What about you, Sirius?" Ginny asked thumping Hermione on the back. Sirius who was right behind Harry , let out his usual barklike laugh. "No one would have made me a prefect, I spent too much time in detention with James. Lupin was the good boy, he got the badge." This excerpt shows that at the least Sirius and Lupin were in the same house. I would assume that they would be in the same house as James(who was in Gryffindor) but they could have been in Ravenclaw as well, seeing as the brightest students end up in Ravenclaw and Sirius was mentioned, along with James, as the brightest students of their year. But I personally think that Sirius and Lupin were in Gryffindor, because James and Sirius show such loyalty to their were-wolf friend Remus when they became animagi to help Lupin's nights when he is transformed. Loyalty is a quality that permits one to be in Gryffindor. I wouldn't think think that Peter would be in Gryffindor because of the cowardice he shows when confronted by Voldemort. So he could have been in any of the other 3 houses. So 3 out of the 4 Marauders were in Gryffindor, according to what I think. (
